Tangadan Falls DIY Guide

The waves, the food and the chill vibe of La Union makes it the go-to place for a weekend escape. La Union or LU is known as the surfing capital of the North, but when the waves are too strong or worst case-flat, there are still other places to cool down and relax. Tangadan Falls is one of the many fast-rising tourist destination in LU and I can’t argue why.

We took the long trail and this catched my attention

There are two ways to reach Tangadan falls-the long trail and the short trail. One must ride a habal-habal or a jeepney or drive up the narrow, steep and winding road for about 30 minutes to reach the short trail. Tangadan is just 10 to 15 minutes away from the drop-off.

The long trail on the other hand requires a bit trekking that may take an hour. The trail is mostly flat and shady and there are picture-perfect spots for your IG feeds. You will know you are half-way when you reach the cliff jumping spot (5ft, 10ft and 25ft).

If you plan to stay overnight near Tangadan Falls you may rent a kubo for only 500 pesos at Larry’s sari-sari store contact number (09097053262).

Side Trip

If you have plenty of time, visit Bahay na Bato, Pebble beach and Watchtower in Luna, Ma Cho Temple and Grapes Farm in San Fernando, La Union.

Of course, never leave La Union without riding the waves in San Juan. If you’re not into surfing, San Juan has a very relax vibe perfect for chilling and drinking by the beach. The best time to surf at La Union is from October to March.
